Ashura Day

Iran Tourism, Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram month. In Shia culture this day is the most sorrowful day of the year because Imam Hussein (AS) was martyre. It was a calamity for the family of the holy prophet. Shia people mourn in Muharram, especially in Tasu’a and Ashura, to revive the tragedy and the mission of Imam Hussein and his staunch followers. This day is called as “Ashura of Hussein”.

Arg Gateway-Semnan

The gateway of Semnan Citadel was erected in the reign of King Naseraddin Qajar. The name of King Naseraddin is written on the gate. The gateway has a northern and a southern façade. The northern façade is more beautiful. It has two symmetrical rooms on the sides. The main façade is in brick. Ornamental inscription on the northern façade are in form of a semicircular writings in yellow Nasta’liq scripts on blue tiles above the main entrance.

City and Bazaar of Kerman

The name “Kerman” is present in the inscriptions of Darius the Great. Kerman, at that time, was the region where Yak Lumbers were produced for Achaemenid palaces. This city has been called “Kerman” in Greek texts. They have described the inhabitants as people of Persian race. The big bazaar of Kerman, that is one of the biggest historical complexes of the city, is the longest Rasteh Bazaar of Iran.

Each section of Kerman bazaar has been built in the reign of a different governor of the city. It is famous in the world for its unique features. The complex consists of different bazaars like Ganjali Khan, Ekhtiyari, Qeisariyeh Zargari, Muzaffari, Qadamgah, Qal-e Mahmud, and Qal-e bazaars. The intersections (Charsoqs) connecting this bazaar to others are other important parts of the complex.

An example is Ganjali Khan Charsoq which intersects two Rasteh Bazaar. Previously, it was among the most crowded markets of Kerman.

Ganjali Khan Bath_Kerman

Ganjali Khan was a brave commander in Safavid court. He was as the governor of kerman by King Abbas in 1005 AH. He was a wise man and a brave, wise governor. Kerman experienced a political, encomical, and social stability during his regn due to his competence and potency. A public utility built by his order was the Ganjali Khan complex.

The most important building is Ganjali Khan Bath which is an admirable collection of paintings, stalactite works, stucco-works, tile-works, and exquisite stone decorations. The bath is 26 meters long and 30 meters wide.

Shahzadeh Garden-Mahan

Bagh-e Shahzadeh is one of beautiful traditional Iranian gardens. This garden lies at the foot of Tikaran Mountains near Mahan. It belongs to the reign of Abd-ol Hamid Mirza Farmanfarma, the governor of Kerman in last years of Qajar dynasty. It is an example of Iranian flat gardens. It covers a rectangular 5.5 hectares ground.

It has a beautiful portal. The main palace, the permanent or seasonal residence of the owner, lies at the end of the garden. There are many fruit trees in the garden. There are beautiful pools and fountains in front of the edifice, too.

Shahdad Desert

 Shahdad is situated 100 kilometers away from kerman and 40 kilometers away from the legendary city of kuluts. Geologists refer to this desert as one of hottest regions of the earth. The legendary city of Kulut covers an area of 11,000 square kilometers.

These kuluts have been formed by erosion about 20,000 years ago. The highest send pyramids in the world, wide landscapes of sands from light brown to grey to black, sandhills, sand deserts, and Rud-e Shor are some other attraction of the desert of Lut.

Rayen citadel-Rayen City _kerman

 Rayen Citadel has an area of nearly 22,000 square meters and is the second big adobe structure of the world, with Bam Citadel being the first. This beautiful building has a rather square plan and several towers around. The bailey round the citadel is more than 10 meters high.
